Your hotel in Las Vegas
You will be picked up from your Las Vegas hotel in a luxury air-conditioned coach for your Hoover Dam Tour, by your English-speaking driver/ guide.
The first stop on your tour, just half-an-hour from Vegas, will be the massive Hoover Dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River. Towering 725 feet above the River, it is a spectacular feat of engineering. Rated as one of the man-made wonders of the world, it is noteworthy not only for its immense size and complex design but also for the huge technical challenges that were overcome during construction. Building of the dam transformed the American southwest.
You will spend up to two hours at the dam including a stop at the Pat Tillman-Mike O’Callahan bypass bridge. In this time, you can take the 'Discovery Tour' of the visitor center and the interior of the dam. You can enjoy a Lunch at the High Scaler Café ; and you will be guided to points where you can clearly see the dam and Lake Mead, the world's largest man-made lake.
Next, your driver/guide will take you to a park where you can see the splendid bighorn sheep, native to these desert lands, grazing in large numbers. These sheep came originally from Siberia, over the Bering land bridge. Their horns can weigh up to 30 pounds.
Before returning to Las Vegas, you will drive through Boulder City, a town that would not exist were it not for the Hoover Dam.
At the end of an interesting and enjoyable trip, you will be dropped back at your hotel in Las Vegas.
